Sigma Pi proudly recognizes Brandon Garlitos(Arizona State ’23) for being named the sole Dean’s Medalist for the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication at Arizona State University, one of the highest academic honors bestowed by the university. The distinction recognizes exceptional achievement in scholarship, leadership, and service, and Brandon’s accomplishments exemplify excellence in all three areas.
Brandon concludes his undergraduate career with an outstanding 3.96 cumulative GPA, earning Dean’s List honors every semester, and receiving the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication Scholarship for Fall 2025. His academic success is especially remarkable given his commitment to military service. During Spring 2025, Brandon was deployed to Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, where he served as a C-17 Flying Crew Chief, completing 29 combat missions. While deployed, he remained enrolled as a full-time student and earned a 4.13 GPA, demonstrating extraordinary discipline, resilience, and dedication to his education.
Beyond the classroom, Brandon has made a lasting impact through leadership and service, both within the Hugh Downs School and the Fraternity. As New Member Educator, he mentored more than 100 new members, emphasizing leadership development, accountability, and academic excellence. His commitment to service extended across campus and into the community through his work at the Pat Tillman Veterans Center, where he supported fellow student veterans, as well as his involvement in philanthropic initiatives, such as Feed My Starving Children, which helped pack over 41,000 meals for children in Guatemala.
Selected as the sole representative of the Hugh Downs School and the only Sigma Pi Beta-Kappa member to receive this prestigious award, Brandon embodies the Fraternity’s ideals of leadership, service, and scholarship. His achievements bring distinction not only to Arizona State but also to Sigma Pi as a whole.
