Province Archon Appointed for Heartland Province

Sigma Pi Fraternity, International is proud to announce a Province Archon appointment. Eugene Hibbs (Sigma, Iowa State ’93) has been named Heartland Province Archon. The position had previously been held by Steve Lawler (Xi, Iowa ’82), who was elected to the position of Grand First Counselor at the 52nd Biennial Convocation in August.  We thank Steve for his time and service to Sigma Pi.

Hibbs will work with the undergraduate chapters at Iowa (Xi), Iowa State (Sigma), and Minnesota (Iota-Zeta), as well as alumni clubs and house corporations in the province.

“I’m honored and humbled to serve my fraternity and my many brothers as the Heartland Province Archon,” Hibbs said.  “I know I have gargantuan shoes to fill as Steve Lawler has been elected to Grand Council and done such a wonderful job for more than a decade. I feel like I’m following Babe Ruth in the batters order and he just hit a grand slam to win the pennant.  How can I possibly follow such a performance? Luckily, I’m on the greatest team ever and my brothers are cheering for me from the dugout, I have the best coaches and I’m confident I can make a difference. After all, I’m getting batting advice from Babe himself.”

“I’m happy to have Eugene in place now for the Heartland Province,” said Director of Alumni Services Jason Beck.  “Grand First Counselor Steve Lawler is a hard act to follow.  But I know Eugene will continue the excellent tradition set by Steve.  I look forward to working with him as a part of our volunteer team.”
