The connection to Sigma Pi runs deep for Ryan Post (Valparaiso ’09). From his undergraduate years to his professional success, the Fraternity has been a source of growth, inspiration, and opportunity. Now, as a dedicated donor and volunteer, Post continues to invest in the brotherhood that helped shape his path, ensuring future members can benefit from the same life-changing experiences.
A Community That Made All the Difference
When Post arrived at college, he was looking for more than just friends—he wanted a community. He found that and more with the brothers of Sigma Pi.
“I joined Sigma Pi because I met a great group of young men who helped me transition to college life,” Post shared. “Sigma Pi quickly became a place where strong bonds of friendship formed, and I learned what the Fraternity stood for. I’m so thankful I made the decision to join.”
It was in Sigma Pi that Post built connections that would shape his future, solidifying the foundation for his personal and professional growth.
Turning Challenges Into Triumphs
Like any great story, Post’s Sigma Pi journey came with challenges that made the successes even sweeter. His chapter faced its share of difficulties, but Post’s determination to make a positive impact never wavered.
One of his proudest moments came when the chapter celebrated its 50th anniversary. The event was a testament to their growth, with both the Grand Sage and the university president in attendance. This milestone represented the chapter’s transformation, a story Post still recounts with pride.
“After years of hard work, we went from a struggling chapter to being recognized as the top Fraternity on campus,” Post said. “Fast forward a few years, and I had the privilege of celebrating with our undergrads as we hoisted the Grand Sage’s Award together. It was a full-circle moment.”
Sigma Pi’s Lasting Impact
Post credits Sigma Pi with setting him on the path to success. From the leadership opportunities he took on as an undergraduate to the confidence he gained through serving the Fraternity, Sigma Pi played a pivotal role in his development.
“I’ll never forget when my first manager told me what stood out on my resume—the leadership experience I had in college. That’s all thanks to Sigma Pi,” Post explained.
Even after graduating, Post’s volunteer work with the Fraternity has continued to help him grow. “The opportunities to give back have allowed me to refine my skills and expand my perspective,” he said.
The Brothers Who Inspire
Throughout his journey, Post has drawn inspiration from brothers who embody the values of Sigma Pi.
“Smitty, our adviser during my undergraduate years, was a truly unique and supportive figure,” Post said. “He’s continued to be an incredible brother and a source of guidance for me.”
Another influential brother is Jonathan Frost, whose relationship with Post grew from lighthearted football jokes to meaningful conversations about life and leadership.
Giving Back to Build the Future
As a dedicated donor, Post’s passion for supporting Sigma Pi stems from the profound impact it had on his life.
“I’ve seen firsthand the positive benefits Sigma Pi brings, not just to me but to so many of my brothers,” he said. “I want to make sure the next generation of members has an even better experience than I did.”
Post is especially excited about the educational programming Sigma Pi offers, including the Engage initiative. “I’ve seen the impact of programs like Engage, and I know we can continue to provide meaningful opportunities for our members to grow,” he added.
A Career Built on Trust
Post’s professional success is a reflection of the leadership and values he developed as a Sigma Pi brother. For over 12 years, he has been a leader at Whirlpool Corporation, rising through the ranks to lead the company’s largest capital-intensive project.
“The trust my company has in me is something that was refined through my experience in Sigma Pi,” he said. “It’s a testament to the skills and confidence the Fraternity gave me.”
A Vision for the Future
Post’s commitment to Sigma Pi extends beyond his personal journey. Through his contributions, he’s helping to build a legacy that will benefit future brothers for years to come.
“I hope my support will provide impactful education and opportunities for members to grow,” Post said. “These young men are becoming great professionals, and I’m honored to play a small role in their journey.”
