LEBANON, TN – Sigma Pi Fraternity, International is proud to announce the appointment of Matthew Quimby (Bridgewater State ’04) has been named as New England Province Archon. Province Archons oversee all parts of the Fraternity (colonies, chapters, alumni clubs, etc.) that are within their geographic area. We would also like to thank Kevin Pons (Johnson & Wales ’06) for his service and dedication to Sigma Pi while he served as Province Archon from May 2016 through January 2017.
Quimby will be working with the following chapters:
- Alpha-Upsilon Chapter at University of Rhode Island
- Gamma-Iota Chapter at Worcester Polytechnic Institute
- Eta-Eta Chapter at Bridgewater state University
- Eta-Tau Chapter at Fitchburg State University
- Iota-Theta Chapter at Bentley University
- Iota-Rho Chapter at Keene State University
Quimby graduated from Bridgewater State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in 2004 and a Master of Education Degree in Student Affairs Counseling in 2007. As an undergraduate member, he held positions of Fourth Counselor, Herald, Brotherhood Chairman, Scholarship Chairman and New Member Educator. Quimby was a recipient of the Sigma Pi Fraternity, International Becher W. Hungerford Scholarship in 2003. He also won Eta-Eta Chapter’s Most Dedicated Brother Award in 2003 and was a Bridgewater State Greek Man of the Year Finalist that same year. Quimby continued his involvement with Sigma Pi as an alumnus when he became an active member of Eta-Eta Alumni Association in 2004 and was named President of Eta-Eta Alumni Association in 2011. Quimby has also served on Eta-Eta Chapter’s Alumni Advisory Board as Alumni Advisor from 2010-2013 and 2015-2016 and was appointed as Eta-Eta Chapter’s Chapter Director in June, 2016. Quimby won Eta-Eta Chapter Alumnus of the Year Award in 2012 & 2016, the Sigma Pi Young Alumni Volunteer for 2014-2016 and the Bridgewater State University Fraternity and Sorority Outstanding Advisor Award in 2016.
“I’m truly honored and humbled to serve our Fraternity and our many brothers as the New England Province Archon,” Quimby said. “I have been an active alumnus since I graduated from Bridgewater State in 2004 as a member of Eta-Eta Alumni Association and have been serving on Eta-Eta Chapter’s Alumni Advisory Board since 2010. I’m really looking forward to working with all of our chapters in New England. My goal is to bring home another Grand Sage Cup to the Province at our next Convocation. No matter what, our New England chapters will not lose. We will win at everything we do, or we will learn what we need to do to win the next time.”
